Determining An Area Of Interest
Knowing your AOI will allow us to search our database for available satellite images or aerial photos, DTM/DEM, GIS and other geospatial source data.
If you are unsure of your coordinates, you may wish to consult these websites to better define the area that you are interested in:
1. Getty Database
- Enter the information requested and click on "search" to the right.
- On the search results page, click the check box next to the listing that matches your AOI.
- Click "view selected records" from the buttons located above the results.
- The Latitude and Longitude coordinates are referenced to the WGS-84 Geocentric reference system and listed under the heading "coordinates".
2. Google Earth
- If Google Earth has not been installed on your computer, please install Google Earth first. Read installation and computer requirements carefully, before installing Google Earth.
- Select the "Fly To" option and enter town/village, State or Province and Country. Google Earth will automatically bring you to the area selected.
- The WGS-84 Latitude and Longitude coordinates for your location are displayed at the bottom of the active window on the left side.
- As an option you can also make a screenshot of the active window and provide us the Image in JPEG format as an attachment to your E-mail together with your request to: info@satimagingcorp.com
3. Global Gazetteer
- Select the country, state and city/town/village of interest from the alphabetical listings.
- The Decimal and DMS Latitude and Longitude coordinates are listed on top of the active page.
In the event no coordinates can be provided:
Please provide us with a small map in JPEG format by e-mail or fax to +1 (832) 237-2910.
Please mark your AOI on the map and make sure that major roads, intersections, town, river names and other helpful details are labeled, so that we can correctly identify the area. For areas within the US, the physical address with the Zip Code for the center of the AOI and a radius in Miles or Km, covering the AOI will be sufficient.
When no image data is available for your coordinates:
Some of the satellite sensors can be programmed to acquire new image data over the AOI, and we will provide you with an estimated cost for new image acquisition.
